Our furniture is built from solid foam with no metal components and no wooden frames. No joints to work loose. No fixings to fail. No seams that can be opened. Fully anti-ligature by construction, not by modification.
Built to the standards corrections facilities require
All Abecca furniture meets BS 5852: 2006 and BS7177: 2008 fire retardancy standards, as specified by NZ Corrections and referenced in Australian corrections tender documentation. Our mattress range additionally meets BS7177: 2008 Crib 7 for high-risk sleeping environments. Fire certification available on request.
Engineered so that if thrown, it causes no harm
Our furniture is substantial enough to resist casual mishandling. Single chairs weigh between 16 and 21 kilograms. Couches exceed 30 kilograms. Tables start at 25 kilograms.
