One client faced thousands of dollars in damage after furniture was used to destroy a room. Another saw a wooden bedside table thrown straight through reinforced safety mesh. Some reported staff injuries that resulted in months off work. Sadly, these stories are not unique, but they don’t have to happen.

Abecca are designers, innovators and manufacturers, with quality at the forefront of everything we make. Our story began in 1952, when David Beatson returned from World War II and started making and repairing hard-wearing canvas covers.
Over the decades that expertise moved into healthcare, where we developed specialist products such as radiology positioning supports. In 2015, working with care facilities facing furniture that was being broken, thrown and turned into a hazard, we began designing solid foam furniture for high-risk environments.
Today, more than 70 years on, everything we make is designed and manufactured in our own New Zealand factory. Watch our video to learn more.
